(terms)

The small print, in plain English.

Last updated 2 October 2026.

  1. (01) About these terms

These terms cover this website and the work I do for clients. "I" and "me" means Matt Skala, a sole trader trading as mpskala. "You" means the business you're buying for.

My services are for business customers only, not for personal use.

Your quote sets out what's included in your project. If the quote and these terms ever disagree, the quote wins.

  2. (02) Quotes and scope

Every project has a fixed price and a written scope: pages, revisions and turnaround. Anything outside that scope is quoted separately, and nothing extra is done until you've agreed the price.

Quotes are valid for 30 days.

  3. (03) Payment

Website builds and migrations are paid 50% upfront to book the work. The other 50% is due before the site goes live, or 14 days after it's ready to launch, whichever comes first.

I'm not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged. The price you see is the price you pay.

Monthly plans are billed monthly in advance. Care plans can be cancelled anytime. Ongoing SEO and Conversion Optimisation have a 3 month minimum, then can be cancelled anytime.

Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing month, with no partial refunds. Cancelling during a 3 month minimum means the remaining months are still due.

If you book Ongoing SEO or Conversion Optimisation within 30 days of the matching audit, the audit's cost is taken off your first month.

Invoices are due within 14 days. Work may be paused if an invoice is overdue, and late invoices may be charged interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

  4. (04) 7 day money-back guarantee

If you're not happy within 7 days of kickoff on a Framer or Shopify build, tell me and you'll get a full refund of what you've paid within 14 days, as long as the first design hasn't been signed off.

A refunded project's work stays with me. You don't keep the right to use any of the designs or code.

Once you've signed off the first design, the guarantee ends and the project continues as quoted. The guarantee doesn't apply to migrations, monthly plans, audits or code support.

  5. (05) Revisions

Each build includes the number of revision rounds in your quote. A round is one set of feedback, collected together and sent at once. Extra rounds are £250 each.

  6. (06) Support after launch

Every website build and migration includes 30 days of support from launch. If something isn't working as it was built, I'll fix it at no cost.

Support covers fixes, not new work. New pages, features and content changes are quoted separately, or covered by a care plan.

  7. (07) Your content and timelines

Turnaround starts once I have what's needed to begin: content, brand assets and access. If feedback or content is late, the timeline moves by the same amount.

If a project is paused by you for more than 30 days, I may need to reschedule it around other work.

If I don't hear from you for 60 days, I'll invoice for the work done so far and close the project. It can be picked up again later, scheduled around other work.

  8. (08) Ownership

Once the project is paid in full, you own the design, code and content made for you. Your accounts, domain and platform subscriptions are in your name from the start.

Some things are licensed rather than owned: fonts, stock images, paid Shopify themes and apps stay under their own licences. Code I reuse across projects, like components and snippets, stays mine, and you get a permanent licence to use it on your site.

I may show the finished work in my portfolio. If you'd rather I didn't, just say.

  9. (09) Care plans

A change is one task on one page. Unused changes don't roll over. Fixing something I broke never counts towards your changes.

Turnaround times are in working days, Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays.

  10. (10) Your customers' data

Some work means handling your customers' personal data, like moving customer records to Shopify or working inside your store. When I do, I'm acting on your behalf as a data processor under UK GDPR.

I only use that data to do the work you've asked for, keep it secure, don't share it with anyone else, and delete any copies once the work is finished. If anything ever goes wrong with it, you'll hear from me without delay.

How I handle the data you give me directly, like through the contact form, is covered in the privacy policy.

  11. (11) Platforms and third parties

Framer, Shopify, domains, apps and other third-party tools are paid directly by you, on your own accounts. I'm not responsible for their prices, outages or changes to how they work.

Framer and Shopify are trademarks of their owners. I'm not affiliated with or endorsed by either.

  12. (12) Results

I'll do the work well and tell you honestly what to expect. But nobody controls search rankings, traffic or sales, so I can't guarantee specific results.

  13. (13) Liability

My total liability for any project is limited to what you've paid me for it. I'm not liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

  14. (14) Using this website

The content on this site is mine unless stated otherwise. Don't copy it for commercial use without asking. Links to other sites are provided for convenience, and I'm not responsible for what's on them.

  15. (15) Changes and governing law

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version in place when you accept a quote is the one that applies to your project.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
